Strathcona Blocks Party 2024 Recap

Summer may be over, but we’re still thinking about all the fun that was had during our Summer Event Series!

From the Strathcona Blocks Party to Meet Me in Gastown, and finally, Flats Fest in South Flats, each event brought together local businesses, artists, and community partners to create memorable experiences.

We kicked off our Summer Event Series in June with the Strathcona Blocks Party, held on Saturday, June 22nd. This event is all about celebrating Strathcona businesses and bringing people together to gather and support local businesses!

The event featured:

  • Fun activations in the parking lot for everyone, including live music, food trucks, games, and more. We were thrilled to have the Ink Pad team hand-pressing Strathcona Blocks Party tote bags for donations to Writers’ Exchange.
  • A lively beer garden hosted by Strathcona Beer all day on Campbell Avenue. Not only were there great drinks, but the beer garden also offered a fantastic view of the skate ramp, managed by Ramptime Productions.
  • 14 Strathcona Businesses offered exciting in-store activations! Attendees used Strathcona Blocks Party Passports to explore the blocks and shop from all the retail stores.
  • MakerLabs, located at 780 East Cordova, opened its doors to give everyone a glimpse of the creative work happening in their space. Attendees were able to contribute to a giant community mural and shop from some of the makers.
  • Finally, one of the things we were most excited about this year was welcoming local artists to the event for live art demonstrations throughout the day. The WKNDRS, Corey Bulpitt and Jean Paul Langlois completed pieces that showcased their unique styles. It was truly captivating to watch these artists at work!

We appreciate everyone who helped put together the event and came out to join us! A special thank you to the event sponsors, including the Strathcona Business Improvement Association and Lordco Auto Parts.

Following the Strathcona Blocks Party, Low Tide continued the Summer Event Series with Meet Me in Gastown and Flats Fest. To learn more about these events, explore our website stories.
